Nabeel Yasin is one of Iraq’s most famous poets.
As a young man in the 1970’s, he was put on Saddam Hussein’s cultural blacklist – he and his family were persecuted until he went into hiding and eventually fled for his life.
A new film, The Poet of Baghdad has been made about Nabeel’s life. It is an extraordinary journey, of loss and longing but ultimately of hope for the future.
