It has been a while since I have written anything, not that I didn’t have anything to say but that I doubted if stating what was in my mind would have made any difference until some of the emotions subside and until the right time comes.
In fact if emotions are still controlling your thoughts or actions (or lack of) about the post-election events in Iran, take this as your chance to stop reading the rest and move on with what you usually do or have been doing because reading on would require some serious “thinking”!
And if are still reading on, I must ask you to “pause” and:
Define Green! Where did it come from? Why green? Is there a document that defines its nature and its goals? What did it mean before the elections? and what does it mean now? What is its intent and most importantly: where do you think it is going?
Now! Do you think your answers are (or need to be) somewhat the same as others who are standing under its banner or leading it or wearing it, promoting it or following it?
Most people have been avoiding the questions, let alone answering them. Many have been delaying or justifying the lack of clarity and some have even said: This not the time to ask (or answer)! Well if it’s not, then this is your second chance to stop reading and move on!
But if are still with me!! I am going to ask you to read the questions again, think about them and answer them for yourself or for the rest of us! Until then I will only leave you with this thought:
I don’t know who burned Khomeini’s poster. I don’t care if it was pre-staged by the regime or it was done by The People. I don’t care if the regime is trying to take advantage of it … But I am glad it happened and it was about time.
This is the defining moment that I was anticipating before breaking my silence.
