An elderly British man, held as a prisoner by the Germans in World War II, is to be considered for a special honour awarded to those who helped Jewish people avoid death at the hands of the Nazis.
Details of Denis Avey’s story were revealed recently in a BBC investigation.
Now the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial museum in Jerusalem has confirmed he is being considered for the title of “Righteous among the nations”.
