Today when I was counting my blessings I thought about all the innocent Iranian women in prison. My heart ached. Later I watched a video on the net where demonstrators in Iran were beating a Basiji and women were shouting ”Velesh kon” (leave him alone). These are the same women who have lost their brothers, husbands, young sons and daughters in the recent happenings yet, they can’t see aggression and their tender hearts can’t bear to see another person being beaten. How wonderful Iranian women are! My heart was touched because after seeing so many coverages of the Basijis practically driving on people, one would think that people would become senseless but women are at their minds and that for me is a sign of maturitiy. This brought a quote from the Baha’i writings to my mind:
“War and its ravages have blighted the world, the education of women will be a mighty step towards its abolition and ending, for she will use her whole influence against war. Woman rears the child and educates the youth to maturity. She will refuse to give her sons for sacrifice upon the field of battle. In truth, she will be the gretest factor in establishing universal peace and international arbitration. Assuredly, woman will abolish wafare among mankind.”
As a woman it feels quite overwhelming to have been given such a responsibility but it shows what a capacity we as women have:
”Will we be the greatest factor in establishing universal peace?”
”Will we refuse to give our sons?”
”Will we abolish warfare among mankind?”
Fariba Kamalabadi and Mahvash Sabet are two Iranian women who said yes to all the above questions and they have been imprisoned for the last 1.5 year. They haven’t been to the court yet because their crime is no crime. Because we Iranian women all believe and have said yes to all the above. We all love peace, we all say ”velesh kon” even when it comes to a Basiji” because we are destined to abolish warfare among mankind! We need to get the innocent Iranian women out of prisons, they have much to do.
