Letter of Protest to Linkedin

Subject: Removing Schools in Iran from Linkedin list
To: linkedin_support@cs.linkedin.com

Dear Sir or Madam:

It came to our attention that Linkedin has decided to remove Iranian universities from its list of universities. As an academician who taught in the U.S. for many years, your decision goes against academic freedom.

About two weeks ago, Secretary of State and recently President Obama criticized Iranian government for censuring Internet. Do these individuals know what Linkedin has done?

Each university in the U.S. has at least twenty Iranian professors and many students who have degrees from Iranian universities. It is important to include Iranian universities whose graduates rank among the top students and employees in the world.

Your action goes against international norms, especially in academic arena. On behalf of our members, I request this improper action to be removed as soon as possible.

Thank you.

Dr. Mohammad Ala, Ph.D., Professor of Business
Board Member; www.iran-heritage.org and www.iranalliance.org

Iran has been temporarily removed from the drop-down list of countries within the education section due to some recent changes to the site. However, we are working to resolve the issue and hope to have Iran added again soon.

If you have further questions, please feel free to reply to this message.
