Iranian opposition leader, Mehdi Karoubi expressed concern for the numerous “unnamed” detainees of the post-election events who have been languishing in Iran’s prisons.In a report on Saham News, Karoubi claimed these people were arrested on the streets of the country in the course of protests against the outcome of the elections and months after detention their fates remain unknown.
The opposition leader maintained that he will keep fighting for the release of all detainees of the recent events.
In post-election protests to the re-election of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, over five thousand people have been arrested, many of which are still in prison.
A group of prominent political and social activists have been released in the past weeks temporarily on heavy bails.
