It was in June two thousand and nine
When the Iranian nation rose.
Inhuman policies of a murderous regime
United millions came to oppose.
They marched in orderly throngs
Shouting slogans, singing rebellious songs.
Regime’s goons killed many the numbers untold
When officials said a hundred we multiplied it tenfold.
They shot young men and women at point blank
At the horror of their crimes our hearts sank.
They called those they arrested foreign spies
They never seem to run out of shameless lies.
As the regime tried to stop the revolt’s tide
Marchers turned out in millions spreading it nationwide.
There was no fear of guns, arrests or beating
At times we watched reactionary forces retreating.
The regime must go people are saying
The price of freedom with their own blood they’re paying.
People’s revolts have just begun
And evil forces are on the run.
They may stay in power a day or two longer
But the opposition is getting stronger.
And soon the regime will be no longer.
And soon the regime will be no longer.
