If I were to be a flower which would it be…have you seen the flower of a Hindooneh or a Beh or an Anar or the flower of the cucumber?…we eat the fruit without knowing what the flower looks like…that is an act of faith… in the garden there is solace…when I go there, Armenians and Assyrians and Persians and Russians offer me tea and cucumbers and roast potatoes and even Dizzee under the shade of a tree where they play takhte nard on a wooden table…each day I look at the fig tree waiting for its hard green fruit to ripen…stoking my desire…
