If I was a man…
I would be completely in Love with Sepideh Rais-saadaat! This is one of my many thoughts of Today! (the other ones would not be interesting to the IC readers, trust me).
I am hardly the envious type. Except for wishing I had at least some of Sepideh’s attributes. Which would that be? I ask myself… probably some of her genetically coded temperamental styles. Seemingly perfect focus with studies of and sensitivity to sound, easy adaptability to new environment, persistence with training and honest approach toward her artistic vision – only softened by intense Love for her craft.
Within the last two weeks I have received her clips from at least a dozen friends. Each time I listen to her, my respect for her is elevated and my interest in her craft intensified.
Just listen to her, look at her: http://iranian.com/main/music-article/2010/oct/sepideh-raissadat-bbc-persian-az-nazdik-program
A brilliant Angel who carries such a pure Passion for Persian music – with a rare tranquil disposition in conveying that Passion to the lovers of music, Iranian or not. Not a trace of narcissistic, attention-seeking jest or adaa. Not a bit of over-achieving neurosis. And the antique quality of her voice that soothes or provokes feelings, at any given time… Topped with the humble sweet smile, uncovered beauty and ease with who she is.
Can she ever do any Wrong?! Rhetorically speaking.
Please feel free to post your own favorite performances and thoughts of Sepideh Raissadat.
I drink this glass of cardamom infused tea to being able to listen to her and watch her on stage one day. Alone or accompanied.
