Child Foundation

A few months ago, I signed up with Child Foundation after learning about them here on this website. Like most of us in diaspora, faithless and as a result not much into charity, I was desperate to find a way to give a few bucks to the needy if for nothing else other than merely to abate my pangs of conscience. The foundation seemed suspect from the start as they didn’t allow the donor to directly contact the recipient in Iran. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and agreed to let them charge a monthly sum to my credit card.

A couple of weeks ago when the shit hit the fan and Child Foundation was found to be a front for funneling money to the Islamic Republic, I tried to contact my credit card company and put a stop to the monthly payments but for whatever reason I was unable to get through. I figured I’ll wait and try again later. Then I forgot about it.

Last night I got an email from Child Foundation alerting me that the December payment had been declined by the credit card company. That seemed strange because I hadn’t done anything about it. But then I realized that the credit card company had been told by the US government not to accept charges crediting Child Foundation. Now my name and names of other naive fools like me have ended up on a government list of people contributing to a terrorist state. That’s a shame!
