Next time someone asks you about the alleged sane world’s democracy promotion adventure in the middle-east show them these two stories:

US threat to Palestinians: change leadership and we cut funds

“The Obama administration has privately made clear that it will not allow any change of Palestinian leadership in the West Bank, the leaked papers reveal, let alone any repetition of the Hamas election victory that briefly gave the Islamists control of the Palestinian Authority five years ago.”

US threatens to stop Lebanese aid if Hezbollah leads government, says report

“The United States will stop aiding Lebanon if the Shiite militant group Hezbollah leads the new government in the country, Israeli media reported, citing a pan-Arab newspaper’s report.”

How can we trust the alleged sane world to bring democracy to the region if they are not willing to let the people in the region practice it?
