On January 26, 2011 The Daily Telegraph updated its 2009 news that President Ahmadinejad is descended from Jews and his family converted to Islam after he was born. They changed their name from Sabourjian to Ahmadinejad. The Sabourjians are traditionally Aradan, Mr. Ahmadinejad’s birthplace, and the name derives from “weaver of the Sabour”, the name for the Jewish Tallit shawl in Iran. The name is even on the list of reserved names for Iranian Jews compiled by Iran’s Ministry of the Interior.
