Thank God! Finally, discussion is building on how to fund this site!
As a long time writer and supporter, I thankfully have yet another opinion to post here, before it shuts down for good one day. For anyone just joining; regardless of anyone including the owner telling you otherwise, trust me:
This site is not funct.
Or, this site is defunct.
Or this site is not able to cover it’s costs with the ads that annoy everyone.
Any attempt to smoke out JJ on this topic will be received with the standard, “It’s not important” or “Yeh Joori Khodesh Hall Misheh”. And his faith has certainly worked magic. But being Iranian, I simply don’t believe in faith or magic anymore. Or the usual the process of wait until the bell is about to ring, and they are about to close down the site, and then wake up and start seeking funding from someone, anyone.
I will gladly shut my mouth and go back to writing about Iran’s constitutional perversions, except, however I simply can’t stand it anymore! Everyone considers this site to be the NPR of Iranians. Everyone values this site as a bastion of free speech. Everyone wants these ads gone.
So here’s today’s idea: (before you post a comment, consider that this has never been tried)
• JJ open’s up a PayPal account.
• Each donation unit is set at $5.
• You can buy as many units, make as many $5 donations as you want.
• We set up a counter and place it at the top where the ads usually are. This counter feeds real-time total donations made.
• When the number reaches $150,000 the counter goes away for a year.
Meanwhile:
• The site is fully funded for a year.
• Only Cultural or event ads are allowed.
• They run for 2 weeks.
• They are free.
Seriously, this could take as little as one day to do, if everyone wanted to do this.
