Iranian security forces have arrested eight terrorists in the southwestern city of Ahvaz, a week after unidentified gunmen attacked a security checkpoint in the city.
The detainees, who belong to the Khalq-e Arab terrorist group, were apprehended in a joint operation by the Iranian police and intelligence forces early on Thursday, IRIB quoted deputy police chief of Khuzestan province, Abdullah Nazarpour, as saying.
The Iranian official stated that the terrorist group, which has been involved in several terrorist acts, was behind the killing of three civilians in the city of Ahvaz.
On April 15, two unknown gunmen on motorcycles opened fire at a security checkpoint in Ahvaz, killing one police officer and a civilian, and injuring three others.
