Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen of Florida, the committee chairwoman, and Rep. Howard Berman of California, the panel’s top Democrat, have introduced legislation that would impose penalties on human rights abusers in Iran and on foreign companies that do energy business with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The Associated Press obtained details of the bill Sunday.
The legislation builds on sanctions that Congress approved last year targeting companies that supply refined petroleum to Iran.
