PHOTO CAPTION: UNHARMED IN PALACE GUN BATTLE – The Shah of Iran, above, was unharmed when two of his bodyguards were killed in a gun battle with a conscript soldier at the Marble Palace in Tehran as the Shah was entering his office. The “Threatening and Shooting” soldier also was killed and a gardener and a servant were wounded. A Statement issued in Tehran today said that the incident occurred yesterday. Shortly after an assassination attempt Shah Reassures Western Allies that the majority of his compatriots support him and that there will not be another revolt in Iran as was the case in 1953.
