Hardly a week goes by without hearing the news of new sanctions on the islamist regime by international community. In general, these sanctions have been primarily targetting certain individuls or organisations within the fascist islamist regime, accused of either human rights abuse or development of suspected nuclear weapons. The question is what is the objective and any impact of these sanctions? If the objective is for the murderous regime to change it’s ways, all of a sudden become a democratic state and/ or to give the opposition room and space to organise, then fat chance. Daily we are hearing the sad news of “suicide” or death of another political activist. The foreign banck accounts of ahmadinezhad/khamenei and their islamist terrorist gang leader brethren are getting fatter and fatter.
But targetted sanctions can be very effective. The white apartheid regime of south africa was similar to Islamist regime of Iran in many ways. A small, very pprivilaged minority ruled the majority living in poverty. SA is a country very rich in resources (dimonds in particular), the regime was hell bent on developing nuclear weapons as means of guaranteeing the status qoue; racism, apartheid and fascism. The opposition (ANC) leaders were all in jail. the Military wing of ANC was hiding in neighbouring countries. The labour unions were severly suppressed. But all this very rapidly came to an end, and the regime collapsed , when through huge international support at grass root level, UN put a complete embargo on SA. Amongst other things it targetted the key exports of SA; it’s minerals and in particular diamond.
Lesson of South Africa is learned and needs to be applied to the islamist regime with outmost urgency. These cosmetic sanctions on Iran air or few mid ranking bassij thug officers are not going to help us the people pof Iran in our quest for democracy and rule of law. What is needed is a complete and absolute embargo on the life line of the terrorist regime. What is needed is a UN led and imposed embargo on the oil export by the Fascist Islamist regime. Nothing else would do.
