Man Minus Sperm

I saw “Atashkar” last night and I thought it was very cleverly made. It touches on a very taboo subject in Iran.  It deals with a steel worker’s fear of vasectomy, and how many men are horrified of it thinking that it puts an end to their “manhood”.

Hamid Farrokhnejad’s acting is great in this film which is only director Mohsen Amiryoussefi’s second. It shows Amiryoussefi is willing and able to take on hot social topics in a humorous and meaningful way.

You can download “Atashkar” from iranproud.com. I highly recommend it — the film AND the operation for those who don’t want to have children. I did a photo essay “Doing the world a favor” after my vasectomy. I’ll gladly answer any question you may have to the best of my ability. Basically, the procedure only prevents you from impregnating a woman. Your “manhood” and sexual drive remains the same.
