in the all embracing darkness of the night my dreams take flight
a respite from the endless prying of the antiseptic daylight
we call life, I walked down to the river bed but it was
dry…like an old snake skin it wound about in sand
in the hot desert of my desire, a distant memory …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….. ……….now I longed to bathe in
after a thousand mock trials
I had finally learned
to kiss her right
but when
I lifted
her veil
there
was nothing
there, emptiness
where once was love
the kind that made God and the fair angels jealous
from above and that is why they stole back what they had
given us and left us without innocense and only lust in a garden
East of Eden in dust somewhere near Lake Van they said but I found
only dead flower beds there and evidence a river had gone under ground
to water some subterranean world not made for hearts like yours or mine or mother nature’s or father  sky’s just coals, that kind that burn holes right thru you should you stumble upon wasps’ nest of slings and arrows of outrageous…
