Day at the Museum

Museums are our most modern collective houses of worship. I am not sure what is worshiped there; but it may be color, form, humanity or god. Mornings are the best time to visit, as one can have more peace and quiet, with less screaming and running kids. Montreal mornings in winter are doubly nice and bright, when the sky opens after a storm, to offer again its cotton dotted emerald. The Museum of Fine Arts has three separate buildings, but all have underground connections. Visiting is free of charge, but the gorgeous collection and the innocent looking donation boxes, make frugality impossible. I love the exterior of the old church building, the permanent collection of the marble edifice, and the architecture of the modern one. It has some Iranian pieces too, but I didn’t go there to fan my Persian ego … rather to worship the universal sense of beauty and wonder. The photos are taken with a simple phone camera, so excuse the quality and forgive the photoman. 12 next › last »
