These photographs were taken during Dec. 2011 and Feb 2012 in northern Iran revealing a slice of life in rural communities (roostas) located between Ramsar and Shahsavar. Essay starts in the town of Sadat Mahale, now Sadat Shahr on the day of Ashura. It is recommended to view the pictures sequentially.
