Manifest

One restless night she appeared and noted:
“now that the blood
that they all tried to hide
has all but dried
steps are heavy
and heads are light
now that voices are silenced
but anguish is loud
now that your May becomes June
but your books are immune
I have come to stay”

As I tried to talk
she played hide and seek
her voice was tender, never weak
she continued:
“Remember when your head was in stars
your feet were dancing
when X and Y were children’s play
and multiple adjectives did not betray”

She brought two balls
one big and the other small
when she was not playing ball
she did the long jump and the knee high
In between the steps,
she did her last pray
at the end
with hammer and sickle
she did the manifest play.
