Actress Shohreh Aghdashloo, best known for her Oscar-nominated role in 2003’s House of Sand and Fog, has landed a recurring role in Marvel’s The Punisher. Aghdashloo will be playing Farah Madani, the mother of Dinah Madani (played by Amber Rose Revah), a skilled Homeland Security agent who’s vexed by the Punisher (aka Frank Castle). Farah is an Iranian by birth who has spent most of her life living in the U.S., where she’s established a successful practice as a psychiatrist.
As for actress Revah, some of you may remember her from the BBC/HBO series House of Saddam where she played the role of Hala Hussein, Saddam Hussein’s daughter. The Punisher is a reunion of sorts for the two actresses. Aghdashloo previously played Revah’s mother in in House of Saddam, which was also produced by The Punisher show-runner Steve Lightfoot.
The series, which stars John Bernthal, Revah, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Deborah Ann Woll, and Ben Barnes, debuts on Netflix this fall.
