An Iranian MP said, Sunday, that the residents of four provinces are facing the threat of famine.
Mohammad Naim Aminifard, the head of the representatives of the province of Sistan and Baluchestan, has made this statement during a speech to the Parliament.
Aminifard explained that, “people in the provinces of Sistan and Baluchestan, Hormozgan, Bushehr and South Khorasan are at the risk of famine because of poverty,” according to the Iranian Labour News Agency.
He added that “75 percent of the population of Sistan and Baluchestan, are facing the risk of famine,” noting that the province occupies “the lowest rank in the country in terms of the distribution of national income.”

“The lack of capital and the drought, which has been going on for 18 years, have caused a dramatic shortage at the level of food security in the province (Sistan and Baluchestan),” said Aminifard.
“The villages in the province are facing a major crisis in terms of securing clean water and bread,” said Alim Yarmohammadi, the representative of the Zahedan city, which is affiliated to Sistan and Baluchestan.
Under these circumstances, Iranian people accuse the country’s officials of wasting the country’s resources through military interventions in countries such as Syria, Yemen, and Iraq.
