
A man who threw a bottle of acid at a woman’s face has been pardoned by her.
Iranian Ameneh Bahrami was left blinded and severely disfigured after the attack and chose to make Majid Mohavedi suffer in the same way she did under Sharia law’s eye-for-an-eye justice.
Instead of opting for financial compensation or a death penalty, she wanted him to be blinded.
After seven years in prison, Mohavedi was due to suffer his punishment but at the very last minute Ms Bahrami changed her mind.
Speaking through a translator, she tells Radio 5 live’s Anita Anand how she came to that decision.
