The real estate crash bankrupted Roseville developer Abe Alizadeh.
Tax problems landed him in jail.
Alizadeh, the Iranian immigrant who started his career making tacos and built an empire of fast-food restaurants and office buildings, was arrested this week on grand theft and other felony charges over an alleged failure to pay state taxes.
State officials said Alizadeh, 52, deliberately failed to pay more than $7 million in sales and payroll taxes – money he had collected from restaurant customers and withheld from employees’ paychecks but didn’t forward to the state.
