Gulf clash: Doesn’t sound like Persian accent

I’ve listened to the recording that the US Navy “claims” came from the Iranian boat in the recent clash between US and Iranian boats in the Persian Gulf. The recording can be heard at this BBC link:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/7177946.stm

If you ask me, I don’t think it sounds like a Persian accent at all. I think it sounds like an American doing a very bad impersonation of some middle eastern guy. Let’s not forget that Iranians typically pronounce “w” as
“v”. So the statement “you will explode” would sound like “you vill
explode” and we also can’t say “explode” we would say something like “
expelode”. But the guy in the recording doesn’t say it that way.

I’m curious what Iranian.com readers think? Listen to the recording and post your opinion if you want. If you ask me, this whole incident sounds
similar to the “gulf of Tonkin incident”, which you can read about
here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gulf_Of_Tonkin.
