In conjunction with the 24th Leeds International Film Festival and the Iran Heritage Foundation, I will be curating and moderating the UK premiere of Golkou Parhizgar’s documentary, Round-trip. Round-trip is inspired by director’s personal experience of returning to Iran after 11 years of living in the UK and rediscovering relationships of those left behind. It is a journey through the heart of Tehran, one caught between modernity and tradition, through the lives of its young generation, their struggles, hopes and aspirations and witnessing their identity crisis within their own divided society. Round-trip, above all, is a search for the director’s place back “home” while others are mostly seeking a way out in pursuit of liberty.
Round-trip will be screened on the following date/time/location:
DATE: Sunday, 14th November 2010
TIME: 8:15PM
LOCATION: The Albert Room, Leeds Town Hall
After the screening, there will be a panel discussion and Q&A moderated by Sanaz Raji, ICS PhD Scholar, University of Leeds, along with director Golkou Parhizgar and the editor of Iranian.com, Jahanshah Javid.
