California’s premier Persian New Year celebration will take place in Irvine this year featuring Actor and Comedian Maz Jobrani as host, Legendary Singer Morteza Barjesteh and Renowned Singer/Songwriter Mehrdad Ekhteraiy as musical guests, and CBS 13 News Anchor Shirin Rajaee as Emcee. Dr. Firouz Naderi, a renowned NASA scientist is also planning to attend as a special guest.
The March 16th Nowruz event, which will take place at the Hotel Irvine, is a benefit for Kia Hamadanchy’s campaign in California’s 45th congressional district. Hamadanchy, the son of Iranian immigrants is seeking to become the first ever Iranian American elected to the United States Congress.
Maz Jobrani, star of the hit show Superior Donuts on CBS is taking time out of his busy schedule to support Hamadanchy. Jobrani said “I can think of no better way to celebrate the Persian New Year than to come together as a community to support one of our own and to help usher in a new vision for America.” He continued, “The Trump Administration has set us on a dangerous path, both at home and abroad, congress needs someone like Kia to hold the Administration in check and to be a voice for those in need.”
The 45th congressional district is considered one of the best pickup opportunities for Democrats this fall and Hamadanchy, an Orange County native seen as a rising star in the Democratic Party, is locked in a competitive race to take on incumbent Mimi Walters, a staunch supporter of President Trump.
Hamadanchy said of the event “I’m honored to have the help and support of these wonderful people who, like me, believe that America is worth fighting for. I’m looking forward to a night of celebration. We are coming together to recognize our wonderful shared history and to pave the way for a brighter tomorrow.”
