Army interrogator went toe-to-toe with insurgents

Call it serendipity.
Renee Schwartz Furbush always wanted to learn Arabic -- ever
since her childhood experience being evacuated from Iran when the
shah was deposed in 1979.
She joined the U.S. Army to learn the language and become an
Arabic interrogator.
Then Furbush found out that Iranians don't speak Arabic. They
speak Persian Farsi. It was a fortuitous mistake.
"If I would have taken Persian Farsi, I would have been bored
stiff for the last 10 years," Furbush said. "It would
have been hard interrogating those terrorists if I had spoken Persian
