The Iranian
All over Tehran, old architecture is being replaced.
Along the northern parts of Niavaran, Kamranieh and surrounding
neighbourhoods, traditional garden villas are being destroyed at
alarming rates to make way for high-rise buildings and accommodate
an ever-growing population. The other major factor is that there
is serious profits to be made, of course.
Although the architectural styles of the high-rises
vary, and give the city a modern feel, a part of Tehran's historical
architecture is being thoughtlessly demolished. Here are a few snapshots
from northern neighborhoods of Tehran.
