Dawn to dusk

In the light of the dawn
in the purples and grays
I was beautiful then
tall and sinuous (then)
you said mysterious
even though I felt true
on that dark green lawn

For there was a taste
a new one in my mouth
it dealt with your strength
with freedom, with wealth.
You fell and were swept
but I have continued
to look for that same state

Oh, I have been wrong.
As I stare at my end,
I see the wonder that was
the intoxicating drugs
that love made in my brain
now envious of just
memories (in vain).
