Do we believe in Him?
Letter to the people of my country

For years I have had thoughts and ideas about, Iran
and Iranians. When I was young, I had so many questions. Why am
I not happy
with whom I am? Why do I feel different and see differences?
Why do
I think there are problems with our culture? Why am I unhappy
with the people of my country? Then I realized that this
is the way
it is.
What can I, if anything, do about it? Anyway, who
am I to question... I'm just an average guy.
For years I questioned myself and others. I thought
deeply about these questions. I studied and observed other cultures.
I have some Ideas about what we can
do, IF WE CHOOSE. Over the years, I have told my story so many times
in my head that I even had a dream once. Crazy... maybe!
Now I would like to share my thoughts with the people of my country
and anyone who may be interested. You may or may not agree; and
you may believe my thoughts
if you choose. You can think about them in any way you want... that is
your choice! I want to do something for the good of my country. Please do
not hang a sign around my neck.
Did we choose to be the way we are or is it just in our blood?
Did some type of force make us this way? Perhaps it's the Devil at work? No, our kings
of the past are to blame! Mongolians and Arabs who attacked and burnt our historic
books and treasures. Maybe it was the English or Americans?
I say
we are the ones to blame. We are always blaming other people and circumstances
for our problems. We can only blame ourselves! I'm sure there are many
Iranians who feel the same. Is that good or bad? I don't know.
I have been away from Iran for the past fourteen years and I
have never once stopped thinking about Iran and its people. In
recent years with the advancements
in global communications, we have been able to learn more about current events
around the world.
There has been an on-going debate, books published, seminars,
and political demonstrations by those people trying to win the hearts and
minds of the next generation of government. Those people who
want to rule the crowd
the way they want. What is wrong with one we have now? With all the respect!
But, I'm not writing this for political reasons... at least not yet!
There are those people who are talking and appear to be very
well informed about the history of Iran and the value of Iranian
literature and Islam. Some
appear to understand our problems and talk about them constantly. I am waiting
to see changes. I want to see peace and justice for everyone... respect,
brotherhood, and equality for everyone.
Just how far do you think we can go
on living the way we do? I have to say there are many of us who are succeeding
in life inside
and outside of Iran.
But, we are not being recognized for these successes in the eyes of the
rest of the world.
I wait for the day when someone has a plan to improve our lives
and our country. Those people who know what we can do to improve
our lives and our country. I wait for the day when every Iranian
can be proud of our country and the way we believe in God.
The
day will come when every Iranian
can freely open their
eyes, minds and hearts. To learn about the world and understand who we
are and how we live. We are, after all, one of the oldest cultures
in the world
and our beliefs as a religious nation.
How we can use the great wisdom
that our ancestors left behind. Just how many of us really
have read their books
and understand their meaning? Just how many of us have really read
the Qoran and truly understand God's message; how He wants us
to
be and believe
in Him?
Are we representing ourselves as Muslims in the best way possible?
How are we representing ourselves as proud Iranians?
How much do we really believe in what we say? I thank you for your time,
