Announcement for the position of Executive Director of
the Iran Human Rights Documentation Center

The Iran Human Rights Documentation
Center (IHRDC) was founded
in March 2003 by a group of human rights advocates, scholars and
lawyers. It seeks to remedy a deficit in the systematic, objective,
and analytical documentation of human rights violations committed
in the Islamic Republic of Iran since the 1979 revolution.
The IHRDC is an autonomous and strictly non-partisan organization.
It is not affiliated with any political group and is aimed solely
at the impartial documentation of human rights violations in accordance
with international standards. The IHRDC focuses on serious violations
of human rights, such as murder, torture, unlawful imprisonment,
enforced disappearance, sexual violence, persecution on political,
religious or gender grounds, and conduct of similar gravity, when
committed on a widespread or systematic scale, corresponding to
the definition of crimes against humanity in international law.
The Center is located in New Haven, Connecticut. The Board of
Directors consists of: Owen Fiss (Chair), Yale Law School; Reza
Afshari, Pace University; Ramin Ahmadi,Yale School of Medicine;
Payam Akhavan, Yale University; Roya Boroumand, Abdorrahman Boroumand
Foundation; Maryam Elahi, Trinity College; Roya Hakakian, Writer;
Martha Minow, Harvard Law School; Bruce Shapiro, Dart Center for
Journalism and Trauma; and Frederick Streets, Yale University Chaplain.
The Center is seeking an Executive Director who will be charged
with the following responsibilities:
a.. Manage the center's budget, finances, and staff; coordinate
the general administration of all incoming information and potential
evidence in all forms and for all levels of confidentiality.
b.. Supervise the compilation of international information received;
define, prioritize, and direct legal research projects; supervise
the development of procedures and guidelines for the establishment
of the Center's database; supervise the development of a training
curriculum and volunteer training program in order to insure the
proper taking of testimony; participate in field activities.
c.. Interact with relevant authorities, such as governments, inter-governmental
organizations, non-governmental organizations, the media, and academic
institutions.
d.. Oversee the publication of selected documents on the IHRDC
web-site for educational and research purposes; prepare the Center's
activity reports as well as topical reports on designated human
rights issues.
Salary and Benefits:
Salary will range from $70,000 to $100,000 based on experience. Position offers
excellent medical and dental benefits, four weeks vacation, a basic life
insurance policy, and a tuition reimbursement program.
