
Thousands of Bahai believers, some dressed in their country's traditional
costume, take part in ceremonies marking the inauguration of 18 terraces
of gardens, waterfalls, and marble staircases leading to the Bahai Shrine
of the Bab, one of the religion's founders, in the northern coastal Israeli
town of Haifa, Tuesday May 22, 2001. Bahai, is a split from Islam and was
founded in the mid-1800s by Baha'ullah in Iran. Bahai teach the importance
of abandoning all prejudice and recognize the essential unity and common
themes of all religions. The Bahai community numbers some 5 million worldwide.
