Press photo called THE BASTINADO which shows the flogging
(falak) of the soles of the feet as practiced in Persia (late 19th century?).
A whole group of men in tall turban hats in a brick courtyard, many of them
holding
whips or sticks, and a man upside down in the middle of them tied up in something
and they are flogging his feet... and by the expressions of their faces are
quite proud of it.
