the gang of his ex-chief Hassan Talaa (Sarkoob). Finding a diary of a young girl
in one of their robberies, a young member of his gang reads it loudly in their nightly
gatherings. She had written about her sorrows, disappointments and dreams in her
life. He starts to take care of her by punishing her old greedy husband and forcing
her ideal man to date her. Having contact only with the teenaged kid of his gang,
the young girl likes to get to know her anonymous protector personally. After rejecting
it few times, a date is made by a go between...
This is an unusual film. For me it is a tribute to Sam Pekinpah, the master of Western
movies in the 1970's. Made in narrow allies of Jolfa, the Armenian part of Isfahan,
this movie has no identity, no logical foundation, no familiar characters we had
seen before, no reasonable story .. and last but not least no screenplay! And this
by a man who was known for his commercial screenplay writings!
The music was by Hossein Vaseghi, known for his cheap commercial songs in Filmfarsi
movies, a man who didn't know how to read musical notes and used to play his melodies
by mouth, and letting his orchestra play it later! And there a wonderful rare track
by Googoosh.
Characters seem to be rough Jaaheli figures, but some how were like cowboys! The
two main gang leaders have stars like sheriffs in western movies. There is no good
guy in this film. All are bad, but likable, like Kaafar who is good at heart, deep
down. .
The film is technically and artistically weak and full of mistakes caused by poor
studio equipment. No screenplay dud not help! It is a film only made to be forgotten,
neither an artistic nor a commercial success.
For me however, it is one of the most unforgettable films of my life. I have liked
many bad films or disliked many good films ones. My friends were not surprised to
see me watching this film once a day, 7 days a week, every afternoon...
