Last year, I started writing short narratives for my own amusement. The Iranian has featured a couple of them and since my other love is images, it seemed natural to combine the two.

The six pages you see here are the first in a series of what is to become an illuminated manuscript. I love the tradition of "faal gereftan", and kept that in the back of my mind as I was working ... GO TO FEATURE

The Kish controversy

Film directors Bahram Bayzaie and Nasser Taghvaie are angry at a decision by the Cannes film festival to cut their contribution to "Tales of Kish" - a collection of films about the Iranian island in the Persian Gulf. The festival ended this weekend and the film did not win any awards:
