Taraneh Hemami
"My art has become a vehicle to find something that I lost twenty
years ago -- when I immigrated to this country. Through my work I re-connect
to a history that is significant to me and defines my sensibilities, my
emotional landscape, and the language of my thoughts. Through my art, I
connect to the patterns of my culture and the historical motifs of my people.
I connect and redefine Islamic patterns and structures, Persian rituals
, customs, language and its ancient mythology in a new way." Hemami
is an Iranian born Bay area artist. She received her masters degree in
Painting from California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland in 1991.
