July 21, 2004Top * Most strange dear miss nemati, [Iranian diva] i know you are quite interested in old songs and music from the past, since you find them and put them on the web. i read your article about googoosh and i would like to know if you have the same attitude toward other artists when you listen to their songs. i mean when you listen to delkash, or marziye or pouran .... do you remember their marriages and divorces? i am a little baffled by this argument. you know i have seen many strange behaviors towards googoosh among iranian communities. most of them love her but a small portion of them criticise her. and among those criticisms yours is the most strange and quite novel to me. somebody's failure in her love affair has apprently caused you to stop listening to her and now after 30 years you are mad at her again because your son has turned out to be her fan. i think you are observing democracy rules at home to the T . as far as i know 99 percent of iranian female artists have had more than 2 marriages. and almost all of them failed to get the custody of their children after divorce. in this way if we look at things your way we have to say goodbye to iranian music for good. and finally i beg you to show me a number of potential good models. just name them and let us know them too. Googoosh is a wonderful role model in the field she is specialised in. music and performance. recently i saw her acting Charles Chaplin in one her new videos and i spent hours thinking. how could she do that? i admire her for trying new things that nobody else dares touch. please listen to her new songs. a new world of meaning and concepts in an elegant framework of songs, accompanied by her heavenly voice and wonderful arrangements. she has always been a big inspiration for other artists and you know it quite well. even her enemies admit that artistically speaking googoosh is at least 20 years ahead of her time. and that is what i call a wonderful role model. sincerely yours |
