grants for brief visits to the countries of Central/Eastern Europe, the
Newly Independent States of Eurasia, Mongolia, Turkey, and Iran for projects
in the humanities and social sciences. These grants are for projects which

* Iranian art show in America: Make it happen
Gallery Ovissi, California, and Evolving Perceptions, Washington DC,
have been provided with a wonderful opportunity to bring to the United
States an incredible collection of contemporary art from Aria Gallery in
Tehran. Gallery Ovissi is working hard to have this collection of over
60 works travel to Washington DC, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Gallery
Ovissi is interested to seek space in the Washington DC area to host this
collection for the last week of March 2000 or for the first week of April
2000. We are in search of a viable space for this exhibition in Washington

The traditional Iranian music orchestra of Boston invites you to celebrate

* Sara Amir for California State Assembly
California State Senator Tom Hayden (D-23rd District, Los Angeles),
who is forced out of the State Senate by term limits, has decided at the
last minute to NOT run in the 42nd State Assembly District. As a result
of Hayden dropping out of the race, former (1998) Green candidate for Lt.
Governor Sara Amir has decided to enter the race on the last day. To support

Abbas Atrvash writes: I'm in the process of writing a book in Persian
about the history of the airline industry in Iran. Any publications, newspapers,
