* Gelareh Asayesh: Immigrant experience
Gelareh Asayesh, author of "Saffron Sky: A Life between Iran and
America", will be reading from her book 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 20,
2000 at Gallery Ovissi, 1425 Park Avenue, Emeryville, CA. (510-601-6874).
Asayesh will talk about the immigrant experience and the challenges of
reconciling disparate worlds and identities. Asayesh is a longtime journalist
whose book has received critical acclaim from The Washington Post, The
San Francisco Chronicle, The Boston Globe, and other publications. A resident
of St. Petersburg, Fl, she writes for The Washington Post, USA Today, the
St. Petersburg Times, and other newspapers.

* Iranian Oil, Gas and Petrochemicals Forum in London
Under the patronage of the Institute for International Energy Studies
(IIES), an affiliation of the Iranian oil ministry, IBC Global Conferences
is organising a three-day international summit will take place in London,

* Lecture: Iranian cinema today, Maryland
By the invitation of Iranian-American Cultural Society of Maryland (IACS),
Dr. Bahman Maghsoudlou, scholar and film critic, will give a speech on
the "Iranian Cinema Today" and will show a colored documentary
film "Life in Fog", written and directed by Bahman Ghobadi and
produced by Bahman Maghsoudlou. This film was made in 1999 and has won
15 International awards. The duration of this film is thirty minutes. When:

a collection of the most prominent contemporary artists from Iran has been
brought to the United States. This collection was first introduced at the
International Artexpo and CIMA art gallery in New York in March and April
2000, and will be opening in Washington DC at the International Trade Center
