AP: A second-string Iran team defeated the United Arab Emirates 3-0 on Wednesday to send the Gulf nation out of the Asian Cup in a match both teams finished with 10 men. Iran was already sure of advancing to the quarterfinals and became the only team to finish the group stage with three wins from three games and topped Group D ahead of Iraq, which beat North Korea 1-0. “I’m happy to go to second stage with a perfect record and to be the only team with nine points. Having said that, all teams start fresh and it’s like a new tournament,” Iran coach Afshin Ghotbi said.

Thank you for sharing!
DM, literally the food does not have yek man roghan
by Anahid Hojjati on Thu Jan 20, 2011 09:11 AM PSTThe fish is baked not fried so does not have literally much roghan and the rice has a little bit roghan but not much. Figuratively, now that is a different story. DM, I know you are smart, so when you figure out how to e-eat the food, let me know too.

by Doctor mohandes on Thu Jan 20, 2011 08:49 AM PSTDoes your Sabzi Polo and mahi has Yek man roghan? if so, and If Faramarz can find a way for me to E-eat the Food, you can count on me being there. So i suggest he stops writing erotic pieces with nooshin or toorshin o nastaran, and get cracking.:))
Prof. Goat.
That theory does not hold water. The iri Allowed our team to advance to the final round of the 2006 world cup which i am sure included much more prestigious and eye-cathcing rewards that some pesky afc championship, And I don't think players of any team can actuallyy be told to tone it down and take no chances to win the game or play their best. After all, It all depends on how the other team is playing the macth too, That is when one can Judge how well Our team is playing.
And besides , People have enough reasons or excuses if you will, to take it to the streets, and they don;t need this one. They are wise enough to know that it is football and it could swing either way, regardless of the politics surrounding it.
Question: do you have a Reesh bozi too?:)

by hamsade ghadimi on Thu Jan 20, 2011 07:01 AM PSTyolanda, ghotbi (in my opinion, the best soccer coach in iranian pro league and team melli) has worked as soccer analyst, head coach in professional soccer league, and assistant coach of national team in south korea for about 7 years. and yes, his wife is south korean.

by yolanda on Thu Jan 20, 2011 06:50 AM PSTHi! No Fear,
I read your post! Are you serious or joking?......Is #3 correct that the coach's wife is Korean? #1, #2, and #4 are jokes, right?
Professorgoat,
by No Fear on Thu Jan 20, 2011 04:30 AM PSTi am sorry. I actually thought about your question very hard and i believe you have a point.
I think IR will prevent TM become asia's champions for the following reasons;
1- IR can not pay the money it promised the football players if they win the gold medal. The economy is in such bad state and the government is bankrupt.
2- IR will prevent a gold medal because some football players have long hair and even hairer legs. This will not be suitable for women to see.
3- IR will prevent a gold medal because Afshin Qotbi wife is Korean and her name isn't Zahra,
4- IR will lose in the final game since it needs Japan's help in the separation of fissile plutonium 239 from the common impurity plutonium-240.
What are your thoughts?
sincerely
LoL ..
by No Fear on Thu Jan 20, 2011 04:12 AM PSTPriceless !
Will Iran be allowed to progress in AC 2011?
by professorgoat on Thu Jan 20, 2011 03:14 AM PSTEveryone knows my thoughts and beliefs about how IRI controls IFF and TM, and we have seen how on numerous occasions TM has underperformed by officials deliberatly using tactics to ensure the collapse of the team. The idea being to cause unhappiness and depression amongs the population to prevent them coming out into the streets and celebrating Iran's achievements as those celebrations could and would most definitely turn into anti IRI demonstrations.
Now we have seen Iran do very well and top its group and are one of the favourites to atleast progress to the semis, but my question is, 'will IRI and their agents within IFF and TM camp allow the team to play to their potential and get to the final?'
I don't believe the IRI thugs will allow this to happen but am happy to discuss and read other people's points of view.

If team Melli wins the Asian Cup, I hope they will be rewarded for their effort!

I guess, they figured that soon or later the huge chinese immigrants are going to take over anyway! Welcome Austraila! obama
"God is love!"
Ok, Faramarz, Thanks. This is what I understand
by Anahid Hojjati on Wed Jan 19, 2011 01:58 PM PSTNext stage in quarterfinals
Iraq will play Australia
South Korea will play Iran
Japan will play Qatar
Jordan will play Uzbeksitan
Some of the problem is because those news reports written in united states are sometimes screwed up and don't know what they are talking when they talk about quarter finals. DM being doctor and mohandess is very busy, so he was careless with what he wrote. But thanks for your input.
YES!!!
