Iran clinch third win in Asian Cup group

AP: A second-string Iran team defeated the United Arab Emirates 3-0 on Wednesday to send the Gulf nation out of the Asian Cup in a match both teams finished with 10 men. Iran was already sure of advancing to the quarterfinals and became the only team to finish the group stage with three wins from three games and topped Group D ahead of Iraq, which beat North Korea 1-0. “I’m happy to go to second stage with a perfect record and to be the only team with nine points. Having said that, all teams start fresh and it’s like a new tournament,” Iran coach Afshin Ghotbi said.

It is the quarterfinals and I already said it in my write up. But you are smart. There are 8 teams left, so it is the quarterfinals. 

The winner of Iran - S. Korea will play the winner of Japan - Qatar on Tuesday, in the SEMIS!

Thank you Mehrdad and Red wine for the post and the analysis.

This was probably one of the best games that Iran has played in the recent years. The players are fit, mentally at ease and there is a purpose to their game. A great game and great goals! Here are a few comments and observations.

The officiating crew was from S. Korea. Given that it was already known that Iran was going to play S. Korea in the quarterfinals on Saturday, it was an unusual move by AFC to have a crew from S. Korea. It definitely looks bad on AFC now that Arash Afshin, one of the stars of the game today was red carded on a clean challenge on UAE goalie and will have to miss the next game.

Shojaie had the chance to shine today in a game that was tailor-made for him. He was even given the captaincy, but he disappointed. The second half substitution Rezaie ignited the offence. I think that Shojaie is done with this tournament.

Here is the schedule for the semis (all times are Pacific):

On Friday: Japan – Qatar (5:25 AM), Uzbek – Jordan (8:25 AM)

On Saturday: Australia – Iraq (5:25 AM), Iran – S. Korea (8:25 AM)

In my opinion, Iran and S. Korea are the best teams so far and their game on Saturday is an early final.

It is going to be exciting!

Everybody, start stretching and getting ready. We don’t want anybody to pull a muscle in front of the TV on Saturday!

Ghotbi is a great coach and a class act. Sorry to see him go.

تیم ملی‌ ایران ۳  امارات متحده عربی‌ ۰

در ابتدا این ۹ امتیاز شیرین را به دوستان عزیز فوتبال دوست و هم میهنان گرامی‌ تبریک میگویم.

این شاید روانترین بازی تیم ملی‌ در این ۳ سال اخیر بوده است،هر چند که بازیکن‌ها بیشتر در یک بازی جدی نیمکت نشین هستند اما قطبی با این تعویض ها نشان داد که در حالت اضطراری میتواند یک چند تایی بازیکن خوب در ذخیره داشته باشد و باز شاهد این بودیم که ۳ مرتبه آقای قطبی ترکیب اصلی‌ تیم ملی‌ را به هم ریخت تا تک تک بازیکن‌ها محک زده شوند و آماده برای بازیهای بعدی !

مورد خاصی‌ در این بازی امشب دیده نشد،ایران از قبل به مرحله بعدی راه پیدا کرده بود و امارات میبایستی ایران را می‌برد و شاهد باخت عراق میبود که امکان این جریان تقریبا صفر بود ! مربیان تیم امارات رادیو به دست بازی عراق را دنبال میکردند،خبرنگاران اماراتی بعد از گل دوم جایگاه را ترک کردند تا دیگر شاهد یکی‌ از بدترین تیمهای این جام آسیایی بعد از عربستان نباشند !

حرکات تکنیکی‌ بازیکنان ایران (آنچه بنده از روز اول تا به حال به روی آن اصرار ورزیدم و تذکر دادم) زیبا هستند و قابل تشویق اما هم خوانی با ریتم اصلی‌ بازی تیم ملی‌ ندارد و این مشکل ساز است زمانی‌ که رو در روی یک تیم خوب..مثل کره جنوبی بازی کنی‌،چون اگر در برابر کره توپ را زیاد متوقف سازی تا به دنبال بازی سازی باشی‌،قطعاً آنها صاحب توپ خواهند شد و صاحب موقعیت گل زنی‌ !

این حرکات تکنیکی‌ میبایستی با ترکیب اصلی‌ تیم همخوانی داشته باشد،به خصوص بازیکنانی چون شجاعی،تیموریان،خلعتبری،رضائی،عقیلی باید بیشتر در راستای تیم ملی‌..در یک جهت بازی کنند و اگر بیشتر نگاه به آمار بازیهای قبلی‌ و امروز بکنیم،تا حدودی میبینیم که بازیکنان خوب جایگیری نمیکنند و پاسکاریهای فرعی و عرضی کم دیده میشوند.

کره یی‌ها صاحب این تکنیک فردی نیستند و اگر هم باشند سعی‌ میکنند این تکنیک را خرج یک گروه بکنند و این تکنیک را با یک تاکتیک خوب تلفیق کرده و طابق قانون فوتبال مدرن...برنده یک بازی میبایستی بدین نهو برنامه ریزی کند تا تکنیک فردی در خدمت تیم باشد.

ایران بازی سختی در میان خواهد داشت،البته شانس برنده شدن ۵۰% ۵۰% هست برای هر دو تیم . کره صاحب ۴ بازیکن خوب در ۲ باند چپ و راست است که بیشترین بازیسازی تیم به دست اینها انجام میشود،دفاع کره پر نفر است اما چون ذاتا دونده‌های خوبی‌ هستند،وقتیکه صاحب توبپ میشوند..دائم به جلو در حرکتند و یک فضای خالی‌ ایجاد میکنند که این بهترین فرصت برای تیم ملی‌ هست و بنده مطمئنم که قطبی شناخت کافی‌ به روی کره دارد.

در مورد تله‌های افساید گیری میبایستی توجه کرد و اجازه داد تا خط حمله تیم ملی‌ بیشتر دوندگی کنند و منتظر بازیسازی فوروارد‌ها نباشند،این اشتباه را در روز بازی با عراق دیدیم !

به احتمال زیاد قطبی ترکیب اصلی‌ را مجددا تغییر خواهد داد و آن را مخفی‌ نگاه خواهد داشت.به هر حال با این بازیکنان خوب و تکنیکی‌ بهترین شیوه ۴-۳-۲-۱ اروپایی هست که به نظر من جوابگوی بازی با کره خواهد بود.

به امید موفقیت تیم ملی‌ کشورمان در بازیهای آینده.

What does "2nd string Iran team" mean?

They did not put out their best players?

Anyway, I am elated that they won convincingly!
