isdciran.org: Forbes blog - The Iranian Mujahideen e Khalq, (MEK), also known as the People’s Mujahideen Organization of Iran (PMOI), has found some unlikely supporters in its latest request for protection from the UN – including former homeland security secretary Tom Ridge, former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani, and former congressman Patrick Kennedy. Yet the organization, based in Camp Ashraf, Iraq, is listed as a terrorist group in the United States (and until recently, in Europe) – an irony, its leaders say, given that it, like the US and European Union, opposes the Iranian regime >>>

by yolanda on Thu Jun 23, 2011 01:32 PM PDTwell, Iraq will close down Camp Ashraf at the end of the year......lets see what happens....

by yolanda on Thu Jun 23, 2011 01:24 PM PDTAmericans got confused 'cause there are so many organizations:
NIAC, MEK, PAAIA, AIC, CASMII, and the Pahlavis!
I agree
by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Thu Jun 23, 2011 01:21 PM PDTReza Pahlavi is the right man for the job but he needs to do it. However I am not buying the bit about MKO being popular. Neither with the young nor with anyone. People in Iran know what they are up to.
Regarding people outside Iran under 25 they do not matter. What are they going to do? Take guns and rush over to Camp Ashraf! I don't think the Iraq government will let them. If say 2000 people did so they will be arrested as soon as they go in Iran.
Crack Cocaine adicts & yellow baloons can't lift MEK out of hole
by Disenchanted on Thu Jun 23, 2011 12:52 PM PDTThe morons of of US politics (crack adicts included) ever wonder where is Rajavi? Maryam is a widow?
The ugly fact is that even as shameless as politicians like Guliani and Bolton are they don't dare to show up on the same stage with Rajavi!!
VPK etc all
by Simorgh5555 on Thu Jun 23, 2011 12:41 PM PDTThis was exactly the point I was making. Mark my words the US media can package the MEK to the West as a virtuous and much loved Iranian opposition group. It will make Rajavi a next Nelson Mandela if it wants. The next generaton of Iranians under 25 outside Iran are not as savvy you are so to know the truth. These brainwashed folks think the MEK is the best things since sliced bread. Unfortunately, the influence of these peope will grown with the help of their new neo-con American/Israeli friends. Slowly, but surely. We must provide an alternative and the only person capable of that is Reza Pahlavi. He needs to be more robust. Don't shout me down. Please don't under-estmiate the danger this could have.
Dear MM
by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Thu Jun 23, 2011 12:31 PM PDTGood idea. However neither Guliani nor Patrick are in office right now. So they are not going to give a damn.
two can dance here
by MM on Thu Jun 23, 2011 12:07 PM PDTNot a single comment is in favor of the MKO, but sometimes I wonder if these politicians are so desperate that they look for any force that appear to oppose the IRI. Alternatively, they may be influenced by contribution money just like Rep. Ney initially favored the MKO when he was given $4000 by the MKO members.
I wrote my congressman and senators on the subject of MKO support by certain politicians and got very good responses from them (Why write to your representatives?). I wonder if JJ or even us can start electronic writing campaigns in favor/against subjects that matter to us where we can express our opinions towards our politicians?
Patrick Kennedy
by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Thu Jun 23, 2011 11:51 AM PDTis an ignorant ass with no idea of what he is talking about. I am glad he is no longer in congress. The fact is that MKO has no support in Iran and if US wants to hold "elections" MKO will go the way of Chalebi.
The real power is with Obama. I would worry if he were to support them. However even if they use them there is no *** way Iranians will accept them. Mullahs are bad but MKO it a lot worse than them. Why are American politicians so dumb.
Thanks Setareh jan for posting this
by Anahid Hojjati on Thu Jun 23, 2011 11:45 AM PDTWe need to know that if we are not careful, what will happen to fate of Iran even if IRI falls.
MKO, loved by all except Iranians
by deev on Thu Jun 23, 2011 11:24 AM PDTI hear Pol Pot and Britney Spears love MKO too!
I see a dark future for Iran with US support of MEK
by amirparvizforsecularmonarchy on Thu Jun 23, 2011 11:13 AM PDTMEK on steroids is not going to help anyone.
Iranians are done with Fundamentalism or Islam in Govt.
Secular if the only change we will support.
Down with MEK and it's backers who obviously have no idea of Iranian peoples thoughts.

As if we needed more proof
by divaneh on Thu Jun 23, 2011 10:54 AM PDTAs if we needed more proof that PMOI is a retard organisation. Do they really think that support of a few corrupt gangster politicians is enough to get them to the helm? In spite of the people will?
BTW, is it me, or is it all special effects to show the gathering larger than what it has really been. It is more like a mirror effect and the funny camera angle and movement stop you from examining the depth. Would like to see a bird’s eye photo of this gathering from top.
P. Kennedy is an Insult to any American Congressman

Naive as usual
by Shifteh Ansari on Thu Jun 23, 2011 09:41 AM PDTAmericans politicians have consistently misunderstood Iran and Iranians. Most American politicians' approach to Iran is always somewhere between utter naivete and shameless greed.
If a US politician in my area supports the Mojahedin, he can go and get their vote, he will never have mine. The Mojahedin Khalgh Organization is a sad and desperate entity that has no base among Iranians and is now only in the PR business without any substance behind.
Observing the way the organization has treated its own members inside Camp Ashraf and their unwillingness to let these poor people be set free is an important representation of their approach to governance. If they have any claims on power anywhere, they should first show the world how they will handle the Camp Ashraf residents, and whether they are willing to break up the group and let them be integrated into communities of their own choosing worldwide, instead of insisting that they be kept inside walls and confines which only Maryam Jan and the now imaginary Massoud Jan can rule.

Bad Dream
by ShahrzadI on Thu Jun 23, 2011 09:10 AM PDTThis is a nightmare, a bad dream. It got worst when I saw Rudy Guliani seating next to Maryam Rajavee. OMG! The end is coming.I understand that there are forces/policies behind this and it is all a play/show. It is still shocking.
Listening to 2:30 minutes of this…
by Bavafa on Thu Jun 23, 2011 09:38 AM PDTFilled me with nothing but rage, sadness, sense of betrayal and deep disappointment.
One wonders where does all this money come from?
One wonders what part of MEK that is remotely aligned with the US publicly stated aspiration (freedom, democracy, free market,…) ?
One wonders how much these politician sold their soul for?
I believe if we are ever to achieve peace, freedom and democracy in our mother land, we need to confront this 'design' head on, by sending and expressing our outrage to these few no-good-for-nothing, dirt mercenaries dressed as politicians.
Shame on you Patrick Kennedy
