BBC: US Attorney General Eric Holder says the alleged conspiracy was "conceived, sponsored and directed from Iran" The US says it has broken up a major terror plot in which agents linked to Iran sought to assassinate the Saudi ambassador to Washington. Two men originally from Iran - one a naturalised US citizen - have been charged with counts of conspiracy, Attorney General Eric Holder said. Mr Holder described the $1.5m assassination plot as being "conceived, sponsored and directed by Iran", and said Tehran would be held accountable for its alleged involvement. Iran's official Islamic Republic News Agency called the charges a "propaganda campaign" by the US government against Tehran >>>

by hirre on Tue Oct 11, 2011 04:18 PM PDTThis has too much propaganda over it and if it was of importance the media would never know about it. Is the US so sure that there were only 2 iranians planning an attack? So sure that they could go public? What if there were more? Now the whole world knows... very strange...
...
by hirre on Tue Oct 11, 2011 04:14 PM PDT1980.... the iranian regime still had a lot of legacy sources from the shah regime that year, not all ties were complete broken and also intelligence work was a lot harder aswell, so people could easier perform assassinations...
Very in line with history and current politics
by fidelio5 on Tue Oct 11, 2011 04:14 PM PDT1. IRI has been very active in extra territorial terrorism ... The bombing in Buenos Aires all the way in Argentina for example. As well as the many assassinations of Kurds and exiles in Europe.
2. IRI and the Saudis are in a pitch chess match vying for influence in Iraq, Egypt, and Syria, and Bahrain.
3. Jubeir is much more than JUST an ambassador. He is one of the most skilled diplomats in the world and is very influential in the US and the house of Saud. The death of Jubeir would have not hurt US Saudi relation but hindered coordination by the two powers in the Mideast.
4. One of the two is a used car salesman. My god if that doesn't fit a hizbollahi I don't know what does lol.

Fast and Furious
by KingReza on Tue Oct 11, 2011 04:09 PM PDTThis is great for Holder since Fox News is running wild with it. This is filling the news cycle as opposed to the Fast and Furious fiasco that had him by the throat.
This Iranian guy's have been arrested for awhile now, I personally think they decided to go public on this to diffuse some of the tension over the Fast and Furious controversy.
Desperate Times Demand Desperate Acts!
by G. Rahmanian on Tue Oct 11, 2011 04:08 PM PDTHad the plot been successful, it could've been used as propaganda to boost the morale of not only IR's forces who would've seen it as a great victory, but also the Saudis opposing the government and other terrorist organizations. It may have caused great chaos in the region as well.
Fishy!? IRR assassinated Ali-Akbar Tabataba'i in DC in1980...
by Oon Yaroo on Tue Oct 11, 2011 03:58 PM PDTassassinated Ali-Akbar Tabataba'i in DC in 1980 and the killer was later found residing in Iran!
If true, US should go after IRR and annihilate it in its entirety! No more pussyfooting with these criminals!
Very fishy
by hirre on Tue Oct 11, 2011 04:01 PM PDTSomething is strange here, why would the IR want to kill a saudi ambassador on american soil when it could easily be done elsewhere? The IR has never killed anybody if it didn't gain anything from it. E.g. the kurdish opposition abroad, bakhtiar etc was practically totally wiped out through assassinations. But a saudi diplomat in the US?
Sounds more like there is someone who wants to escalate something, e.g. the saudis might have been rejecting some american deals and now all of a sudden when there is/was a diplomat is in danger they might reconsider the deal...
You have to think: "if the iranians were successful and nobody would know about it, what would the effect be of a dead saudi ambassador". Obviously the ambassador must have been involved in something if the iranians prioritized him this much...
What I think is the case is that the US wants saudi cooperation if there is to be an attack against Iran. Earlier the saudis didn't offer military support, but if they believe Iran was in fact behind this, they might reconsider the situation, so if an attack would take place it would be the US, Israel, Saudi Arabia & Nato against Iran where Saudi Arabia would be the most important non western ally trying to legimitize a war. Turkey made it clear that they would not attack Iran so there aren't many middle eastern west-ally countries left...
Really, this is bearking news!!!

When it comes to lying
by statira on Tue Oct 11, 2011 03:35 PM PDTObama and his administration surpasses Ahmadinejad and IRI. The suspect guy doesn't look anything like a terrorist. As an Iranian, I can spot and smell a hezbolahi from miles away.
What else is New? Any doubt
by Delavar1 on Tue Oct 11, 2011 03:23 PM PDTWhat else is New? Any doubt as to the Terrorist Islamist regime in Iran is terrorist? They have been terrorizing Iranians Inside and outside Iran since their existance in 1979. The are stoning/Raping/hanging political prisoners in Iran. Any one Remembers how the killed the Forouhars in their own house in Tehran?
The Islamic Rebublic in Iran (IRR) Is the main sponsor of international Islamist terrorism. They have established many terrorist groups such as Islamic Jihad, Hamas, Hezbollah. They are even helping Al Qaeda in Afghanistan. Isn't this time the regim of terror be toppled?
