I received this article in an e mail from a friend and found it to be very informative, shocking, sad and thought provoking part of contemporary Iranian history that I personally did not know about and thought it to be a must share.
Cheers.

Has anyone read this book. The great famine and genocide in Persia 1917-1919, by Mohammad Gholi Majd printed in USA 2003. Also translated in Farsi.
See below websites too. The documents been released by American, but not yet by British! It seems that they are behind this famine.
This seems strange that we had very very limited knowledge of what has happened 90 years ago. In my opinion we spent too much time on what Khajeh Nezam mol- Molk said in 800 years ago and come to interpret what was been meant by Moulavi and that whether he was Iranian or Turkish,

Dear Friends, thank you for your feedback….
by 13th Legion on Tue Oct 05, 2010 08:15 AM PDTDear FR and DK, thank you for sharing your thoughts..
Farah Jaan,
I personally had not heard of “ Mohammad Gholi Majd” up to this point, I tried googleing his name to find a Bio on him but I only came up with bunch of book listings that have been written by him on Amazon and did not have the time to dig deeper! to tell you the truth I was not a bit exited by the article but rather a bit shocked about a few topics in the article and was wondering if that was true? I have to brush up on my knowledge on Iranian history during WW I ;)
1- The percentage of death tools of Iranians during WW I.
2- The fact that Britain refused and blocked humanitarian help sent by U.S for the people of Iran at that time.
Darius jaan,
Thanks for the clips, I did not find them funny but very sad and embarrassing! I personally don’t see myself as a political person, I simply do not see any truth in politics and as far as my personal views are shaped, I simply relay on my limited but first hand experiences of what I have seen and experienced first hand during my life time so far: We all know about the poor state of politics , quality of life and culture and Iran’s infrastructure before the Pahlavi’s came to power, some of us may be old enough to remember or heard first hand stories through our grandparents about the state of life in those days along with our own first hand experiences growing up before and after the revolution of 1979. I remember visiting Iran years ago during a summer vacation, while driving in a car and talking with friends a friend of mine that was highly educated in the U.S and had recently returned to live in Iran stated: I don’t know about Reza Shah and Mohammad Reza Shah’s effective leadership in this country! My natural response was: have you seen the state of Pakistan & Afghanistan today? I truly believe that if it wasn’t for the leadership of the Pahlavi’s and there services in modernizing this country during there role Iran to day would have been a carbon copy of those countries! If not for them WHO would have propelled this country to modernization in such a short time of 50 some years? Let’s give credit, where credit is due!
Darius jaan I nearly fell off my seat too!
by Farah Rusta on Mon Oct 04, 2010 08:21 AM PDTThat self-beating mullah was so hilariously funny. Hooman Majd's knowledge of the mullahs and revolution is skin deep just enough to entertain and not to educate.
Thanks for the video clips. Both were funny.

Good point Darius jaan
by Farah Rusta on Mon Oct 04, 2010 05:11 AM PDTBut I am afraid they are not of the same stock. Hooman Majd comes from the same place as Khatami comes meaning Ardekan (Yazd) whereas Mohammad Gholi Majd is from the northern province of Mazandaran. His father was a big land owner in that province who ironically had very good relations with Reza Shah but during the Land Reforms of Mohammd Reza Shah he was not happy to give away part of his vast empire to the peasants. MG Majd's bitterness is rooted in that era.
I suppose there must be something in this family name!

Majd is the most discrdible historian
by Farah Rusta on Mon Oct 04, 2010 04:56 AM PDTDear Legion
Mohammad Gholi Majd is among the most discredited people who call themselves historians. He has a big grudge against Reza Shah and Mohammad Reza Shah because they had confiscated the vast acres of land that belonged to his land owner father, Fathan-ol-Saltaneh Majd. He is also against the Brits, not out of credible historic fatcs, but because in his little biased mind, he sees Reza Shah as a British puppet hence he hates the Brtis! Similar to another mentally demented personality called Mossadegh.
I wouldn't get too excited by Majds's revelation if I were you.
Regards
