How did you spend your Labor Day weekend?

Sounds like an Enshaa topic from grade school, doesn't it?

Well, let me tell you about how I spent my Labor Day weekend then:

The highlight of Saturday was the Atlanta Braves game with my family. They lost to the NY Mets and worse of all the stadium was full of their obnoxious fans. Have some respect. You're guests here so don't be too rude to the Atlantans. The only good NY "thing" at the game was the big and tasty NY-style hotdog that I ate while watching the game. Of course, it was followed by eating about a pound of boiled peanuts that I had especially prepared for the game using my own secret recipe of spices. You could say that I have developed a liking for peanuts after living in GA for a long time. I didn't have dinner!

Yesterday, I finally decided to educate myself about the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. I mean, I figured I have hiked, camped and spent time in national parks and forests in faraway states like Wyoming, Montana (pictures coming soon to iranian.com), Arizona, California, Nevada, Utah, etc. but I have never taken the time to explore the national forest that is literally a few miles away from where I have been living. It only took me a little over 22 years. Better late than never, I suppose. Anyway, like a good information seeker I went the park's headquarters and inquired and obtained some brochures and hiking maps. Hopefully, I will officially start my exploration this coming weekend. I spent the remaining hours of the day walking and picnicking along the river with my father.

And today, I spent some quality time with my nephews. After making the three-year-old one promise me not to keep nagging me about going back home as soon as we get in the car (which was useless by the way), we drove to the Borders bookstore to talk Sesame Street and Braves over some overpriced chocolate milk. Of course, as soon as he was done looking at his Elmo book, he started bugging me and his brother about leaving. His brother, on the other hand, was reading and telling me all about the Atlanta Braves. Our little quality time ended by going to Trader Joe's to buy some of my classic favorites.

There you have it. Another Labor Day weekend has come and gone!
