ما یک روزی در قانونِ اساسی نُخُست‌وزیر داشتیم و رئیس‌جمهور، با یک شکلِ خاصی. بعد تجربه به ما نشان داد که این درست نیست.  امام دستور دادند بنشینید؛ گروهی از خبرگانِ ملت، از دانشگاهیان، از روحانیون، از مجلسِ شورای اسلامی، از برجستگان و نخبگان بنشینند، اونچنانکه بر طبقِ نیاز هست اون را تغییر بدن.  همین کار را هم کردد.  یا در زمینهء قضاء، همینجور.  در آینده هم اینها‌ قابلِ تغییره.  ما امروز نظامِمون نظامِ ریاست‌یست، یعنی مردم با انتخابِ مستقیمِ خودشون رئیس جمهور را انتخاب می‌کنند. تا الان هم شیوهء بسیار خوب و تجربه شده‌ایست.  اگر یک روزی در آینده‌های دور یا نزدیک، که احتمالاً آینده‌های نزدیک چنین چیزی پیش نمیاد، احساس بشود که بجای نظامِ ریاستی نظامِ پارلمانی مثلاً مطلوبه، مثکه در بعضی کشورهای دنیا معموله.  هیچ اشکالی ندارد.  میتوانه این‌رو تبدیل کنه نظامِ جمهوری اسلامی، این خطِ هندسی‌رو به این خطِ دیگر هندسی.  تفاوتی نمی‌کنه

One day we had Prime Minister and President in the Constitution, in a particular form.  Then experience showed us that this was not right.  Imam [Khomeini] commanded [us] to sit; a group of experts among the people, from academics, from clergies, from the Islamic Consultative Assembly, from notables and elites, to sit, to change what was needed accordingly.  They did it too.  Or elsewhere, did the same in the matter of judiciary.  In the future these are also changeable.  Our system today is [a] presidency system, meaning with direct election the people themselves elect the president.  Up to now it’s been a very good method and it’s been experienced.  If one day in the a distance or near future, which probably in the near future nothing like this will happen, if it is felt that instead of [a] presidency system, [a] parliamentary system is more favorable, like it is usual in some countries in the world, there is no problem.  The Islamic Republic system can convert this, [convert] this geometric line to this geometric line.  It makes no difference.
