MM Jan, you tube has a million videos, but it always helps to get others suggestions, to narrow down to a few good ones.

by yolanda on Wed Apr 27, 2011 11:27 AM PDTHi! comments,
I am not thoughtful......I am on spring break whole week.....so I have some free time goofing off on IC....next week, I have to go back to work.....
I believe the movie "Bodyguard" was made for the song "I will always love you"........my dad watched the movie and he was deeply touched.....my dad said it is amazing that an actress can sing so well.....I told him Whitney Houston is a singer 1st and then they tailored-made the movie "Bodyguard" for her......
When I bought the "I will always love you" CD, it had been sold over 28 million copies.....it was many years ago.......Whitney Houston's voice is peerless, but I have to give credit to Dolly Parton 'cause she wrote the original song!
JJ is not going to kick us out! JJ's nephew, Robert, is an IC member.....he looks like a 10 year old......he made a cute music video, it has 900 hits already:

JJ: Yolanda and me and Justin will be 18 years old very soon. Please don't remove us from IC :)

by yolanda on Wed Apr 27, 2011 09:33 AM PDTWhitney Houston's I will always love you is a very cool song:

The Original version by Dolly Parton, who wrote the music and lyrics, is pretty good too:
//www.youtube.com/watch?v=XafBLDVtF7Y
Dolly Parton's version was voted as the greatest country song of all time by CMT( Country Music TV).

I would like nominate Hotel California for the international category:

by Paykar on Wed Apr 27, 2011 06:08 AM PDTI have more to say about the evolution of traditional music after the revolution, maybe in a different thread...
I did a lot of search about a duet between Kate and Tom Waits, nohing so far.
Thanks for posting these great lyrics.
comments (a correction, somewhat)
by Paykar on Wed Apr 27, 2011 06:23 AM PDTThe rate of failure is around 1/3. Usually anti depressants are prescribed along with psychotherapy sessions. Given a number of people would recover, over time, on their own; the rate of success in actuality falls below 2/3. Moreover, due to side effects, in some cases, there is a trade off where the benefits outweigh the negative impact only marginally. Of course, there is a documented danger of suicide in adulescents as well as young adults.

A music website suggestion.
by comments on Wed Apr 27, 2011 04:11 AM PDTThis website is one of my most favourites, and I usually listen to the radio music (Hindi pop) when I work. It is worth to try, and I am positive that most of you would like it. If you know a similar website in another language please post it.

by ComraidsConcubine on Wed Apr 27, 2011 03:31 AM PDTthanks for elaborating, but that doesn't mean that they don't make judgments, just not necessarily, generally "good" ones and in any case it depends what they are exposed to. Maybe a blog discussion on judgment alone is in order. Might be fun.
Aynak, well in that case, it really is best that I had fun with this, otherwise an entire party of people would have cursed me (as usual)! ;)

by Paykar on Tue Apr 26, 2011 10:48 PM PDTI think Ashrafe Dehghan had written that song, the "comrades" used it, although at the time they were very critical of their( Fadaeian) thesis: Mobarezeh Mossalahaneh ham Strategy va ham Tactic.
Edit :Some info has been removed

by comments on Tue Apr 26, 2011 09:12 PM PDTI think we both should stop commenting on this blog! We like contemporary musics and expressed our interest in 17 years old Justin. As well, the Indian video was so funny for us....
Have we forgot that in the Persian culture we are supposed to be sophisticated and not jingly:) Oh, gosh. Maybe I am not Iranian any more :) Lost Journey!

by aynak on Tue Apr 26, 2011 08:59 PM PDTBaba Joon, you are more confused than me ;) Yes, R.I.P I meant the group Peykar, and this was a song by a group of guys, with very thick voice. I think one song was called, yek sar shaveem? The too songs you are refering to, one is by Fadayean and the Zan song, I believe is by Ziba Shiraze, which goes like:
Man manam man yek zanm, miznm to dahnet harfeh zyad bezni ..... :)
May we all have good dreams.
Paykar, those two songs were good ones
by Anahid Hojjati on Tue Apr 26, 2011 08:55 PM PDTI remember that I liked both songs. Who wrote Man yek zanam? I seem to remember that I knew something about the young woman who wrote it but my memory is failing me, I am not sure. So you are Paykari?
Aynak
by Paykar on Tue Apr 26, 2011 08:42 PM PDTDo you mean the group called the Paykar dar rahe azadieh tabegheh karegar? Ah man, that was a mouthful:)
I had a tape from Chicago chapter of Confederation of Iranian Students, several members of the Confederation had joined the Rahe karegar group when they went back to Iran in 79. One of the songs was, " Man Yek Zanam" and I also remeber a song called : Zendanie ay ouje Faryad."
Paykar jan,

Your welcome Anahid
by Paykar on Tue Apr 26, 2011 08:27 PM PDTIf you ever decide to have another child (you might have rolled your eyes as soon as you read the sentence!), consider reading works of people like Daniel Siegel and Louis Cozolino; actually we all could benefit immensely by reading the Neuroscience of Human Relationships by Cozolino.

Thank you for sharing! Too bad she did not sing in Persian!
Re: No revolutionary songs of old Peykar?
by aynak on Tue Apr 26, 2011 07:02 PM PDTPeykar, I remember there was a tape of PeyKar groups songs back in the 80'es. Not quiet as famous as the Fadayean's Aftab-Karan or Roud but still pretty good sounding. Any links?
Concubine, the compilation if you must know is for a party. (it has to cover the various stages, good background, dinner music, dance, and yes conversation piece).
I was hoping to expand the set. From my experience, everyone has one or two that I have not head about.
May we all have good dreams.

by Paykar on Tue Apr 26, 2011 10:59 PM PDTGlad you found the posts interesting.
Regarding brain development, human brain develops very rapidly from infancy till the age of twelve. Brain's development is correlated with major changes in child’s life (e.g., rapid increase in number of neurons and neural connections in the right hemisphere facilitates child/parent attachment; similarly the same increase is present in the left hemisphere during language development...)
There is actually a decrease in gray matter (neurons) while neural connections become stronger, increase in white matter (Myelinated fibers), leads to enhanced cognitive processing in Cerebral cortex(Giedd, 2004). This happens between the ages of 12-18.
Brain goes through reorganization and disorganization from onset of puberty into early 20's( Cozolino, 2006), neural plasticity actually is at work well into adulthood; culminating in enhanced connections among cortical and subcoritical networks, necessary for appropriate executive functions.
I am going to stop here and provide you with a link on N.P.R. that briefly discusses the subject in an accessible fashion.

by ComraidsConcubine on Tue Apr 26, 2011 11:07 AM PDTThanks Aynak for your blog, which by the way: what are you compiling for? I'm curious.
Paykar, you are on the wrong path to suggest this (quoting you). Very wrong:
"Parts of human brain do not fully develop till early to mid twenties (areas involved in making judgments; regulation of affect…) "
But thanks for your interesting posts.
